Whether it’s jamming live over backing tracks, or playing a part and then harmonizing on top of it, a looper pedal can expand your sound massively. If notes exceed loop boundaries they will be held as long as the Note Duration specifies in the sequencer data. From solo performers like Ed Sheeran to moody instrumentalists Russian Circles there are plenty of examples of professional musicians utilizing loopers to enhance their live performances. The note durations will be calculated based on your sustain input. ON: This will convert Sustain Pedal to duration meaning there will be no CC messages in the recorded sequence data. Solution is to put a Sustain Off message at the beginning of the second sequence, by either recording a quick stomp on the pedal or by going into Step Edit, set it to Insert/Delete mode and insert Sustain Pedal in Options and then insert Value 0. If in song mode you switch from Sequence 1 to Sequence 2 your notes will be sustained indefinitely because there's no Sustain Off happening. In Sequence 1 you have notes looping around and released somewhere in the beginning of the sequence. Sequence 1: |-Sustain Off-Sustain On-Notes-| The only tricky situation is if you have a sequence like this: The sequencer plays back literally what you played as it happened including sustain pedal, you can sustain notes even in loop boundaries. You will see these messages in Step Edit Mode:Ĭontrol:C64-Sustain Pedal Value: 127 (sustain pedal on)Ĭontrol:C64-Sustain Pedal Value: 0 (sustain pedal off) OFF: means that the MPC will record the Sustain pedal as you play it, specifically recording Sustain Pedal CC messages. This will make sure that sustain pedal events are received.Ĭonvert sustain pedal to duration (MIDI -> 2) Select C64-Sustain Pedal and set Pass Events to YES Midi Input Data Filter (MIDI -> 3 -> Sequencer Input Filter) There are two things affecting sustain pedal behaviour: ![]() I remember reading and hearing about how the sequencer in the MPC3000 was like great but man if this thing cant record midi tracks with a sustain pedal correctly what a bummer. I tried over and over again and its like the MPC3000 cant understand that I'm using a sustain pedal with my controller. I play back the midi track and like it sounds good at first but then all of a sudden the sustain goes away and the piano notes sound like crap with no sustain. When I use a piano patch and use the sustain pedal to give it more of a realistic sound with some sustain the MPC doesnt really record the sustain part right. Obviously this is how you record your midi tracks in the MPC but my midi tracks dont recorded right if I'm using a sustain pedal. I'm using a midi controller with goes into the midi in of the MPC3000 then I have the midi out A going into my Fantom XR. Ok so I been messing around with the sequencing abilities of the MPC3000 specifically the MIDI capabilities it has but I noticed there is an issue regarding recording midi tracks.
